Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 34 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pistachios, toasted or raw
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream, yogurt, whipped cream, or extra nuts

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F and prepare a baking dish.
  2. Peel pears if firm; slice and core them.
  3. Arrange pears cut side up and drizzle with lemon juice.
  4. Mix brown sugar, spices, and salt; sprinkle over pears.
  5. Add butter pieces and drizzle with vanilla.
  6. Bake 30 minutes, turn pears cut side down, and spoon caramel over them.
  7. Continue baking 25–45 minutes until tender.
  8. Turn pears up, spoon caramel on top, and add pistachios.
  9. Serve warm with desired toppings.
