Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 packet puff pastry sheets (usually 2 sheets)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
- Cooked and crumbled bacon (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until soft and translucent.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until well combined.
- Remove from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly.
- Once cooled, mix in the shredded cheddar cheese evenly.
- Prepare the Pastry:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface. If using store-bought sheets, you may need to roll them thinner using a rolling pin.
- Slice each sheet into halves or thirds, depending on the desired roll size.
- Assemble the Rolls:
- Place a generous amount of the beef mixture along one edge of each pastry rectangle.
- Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges with a bit of water.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Brush the tops with beaten egg to ensure a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Remove from oven, garnish with chopped parsley and crumbled bacon if desired.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For an extra cheesy experience, sprinkle additional cheese on top of the rolls before baking.
- These rolls can be prepared in advance and kept in the freezer. Just thaw completely before baking.
- Feel free to experiment with spices, like adding chili powder or smoked paprika for extra flavor.
- Serve with a side of sour cream or a dipping sauce of your choice for added taste.
