Description
Deliciously flaky chocolate-filled croissants perfect for any sweet craving.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package puff pastry dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 100g high-quality dark chocolate, chopped or in chip form
- 1 egg (beaten with a tablespoon of water, for egg wash)
- as needed chocolate chips (for topping)
- optional powdered sugar (for dusting)
- optional drizzle of melted chocolate (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F).
- Prepare the Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut the dough into triangles. The size of the triangle depends on how large you want your croissants.
- Add the Chocolate: Place a small amount of chopped dark chocolate or chips on the wide end of each triangle.
- Shape the Croissants: Starting at the wide end, roll up the dough loosely towards the pointed end, enclosing the chocolate.
- Egg Wash: Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each croissant with the prepared egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle chocolate chips on top of the croissant for extra chocolaty goodness.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the croissants are puffed and golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let the croissants cool slightly on a wire rack. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the puff pastry stays cool until you’re ready to bake; this helps achieve the best flaky texture.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of chocolate or adding fillings like Nutella for variation.
- Be cautious about not overfilling, as too much chocolate can ooze out during baking.
- Serve warm for the best texture and flavor experience.
