Description
A delicious and crispy tofu dish coated in a flavorful orange sauce.
Ingredients

- ½ cup neutral oil (canola)
- 1 package of tofu (16 oz/454 g)
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup cornstarch
- ¼–⅓ cup water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup orange juice
- ⅓–½ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
- 2 teaspoons crushed ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
Instructions
- Press tofu to remove moisture, then cut into cubes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, and salt. Add water to create a batter.
- Coat tofu cubes in the batter, then fry in hot oil until golden brown.
- In another bowl, whisk together orange juice, sugar, tamari, rice vinegar, Sriracha, ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes.
- Pour the sauce over the fried tofu, add cornstarch to thicken, and stir until coated.
- Garnish with orange zest before serving.
Notes
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or noodles.
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or less Sriracha and red pepper flakes.
