Instructions
- Wash and zest the oranges, avoiding the bitter white pith. Slice them into thin rounds.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water until dissolved, stirring continuously for about 5 minutes until bubbling.
- Add orange zest and vanilla extract; simmer for an additional 5 minutes to meld flavors.
- Submerge orange slices in the syrup, cooking each side for about 2 minutes until fully coated.
- Remove slices and cool on parchment paper at room temperature before storing in an airtight container.
