Description

A delicious stir-fried dish featuring tender beef and colorful vegetables, perfect served over rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional, taste first)
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for finishing)
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear 2–3 minutes per side until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining oil and sauté onion and bell peppers for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Return beef to the skillet, add broth, black pepper, and salt. Stir to combine. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until beef is cooked through and sauce slightly thickens.
  6. Drizzle with sesame oil (if using) and serve hot over rice.

Notes

  • This dish is best served immediately while hot.
  • You can substitute the beef with chicken or tofu for a different protein.
