  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Sausage Filling: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. In a bowl, combine the ground sausage, sautéed onions, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry into squares, approximately 3 inches by 3 inches.
  4. Assemble the Bites: Place a small amount of the sausage mixture in the center of each square. Fold the corners of the pastry over the sausage filling, pinching to seal. Place the bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the pastry with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
