Description

Deliciously spooky brownies topped with a white chocolate spiderweb and gummy spiders for a fun Halloween treat!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips (for spiderweb decoration)
  • Black fondant or gummy spiders (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  2. Melt Butter:

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat.

  3. Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a large bowl, whisk together sugar and cocoa powder. Add melted butter and stir until combined.

  4. Add Wet Ingredients:

Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.

  5. Combine Dry and Wet:

In another bowl, mix flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. Add Chocolate Chips:

    Fold in the chocolate chips.

  7. Bake:

Pour batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.

  8. Create Spiderweb Decoration:

Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Use a piping bag or a ziplock bag with a corner snipped off to draw circles on top of the baked brownie. Use a toothpick to draw lines from the center to the edges of the brownie to create a spiderweb effect.

  9. Finish with Halloween Touch:

Place fondant or gummy spiders on top of the brownies for an extra spooky touch.

Notes

  • For a fudgier brownie, reduce baking time slightly.
  • Ensure the butter is melted, not hot, to prevent curdling the eggs.
  • If white chocolate is too thick for piping, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to thin it out.
