Description

A delicious and refreshing dessert that combines cake, gelatin, strawberries, and whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients required on box: eggs, oil, water)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup strawberry preserves
  • 1 packet strawberry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake Base: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish. Prepare the white cake mix according to the package instructions. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  2. Make the Gelatin Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the strawberry-flavored gelatin in boiling water. Stir in the cold water and mix until fully dissolved. Allow it to cool at room temperature.
  3. Prepare the Strawberry Mixture: Combine the fresh strawberries with the strawberry preserves. Set aside.
  4. Whip the Cream: In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until it begins to thicken. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  5. Assemble the Dessert: Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over with a fork. Pour the cooled gelatin mixture evenly over the cake. Spread the strawberry mixture over the top. Evenly spread the whipped cream over the strawberry mixture. Refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, allowing the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serving: Cut into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider using almond extract instead of vanilla in the whipped cream.
  • You can garnish with additional fresh strawberries or mint leaves for presentation.
  • Ensure the gelatin sets slightly before pouring it over the cake to prevent it from making the cake too soggy.
